Privacy Policy and Terms of Use | Upcyon
Last updated: 10 June 2026
1. Data controller
The controller of the data referred to in this policy is Upcyon (hereinafter, "Upcyon", "we"), owner of the website www.upcyon.com and of the "Upcyon" mobile app available for Android and iOS.
For any matter related to privacy or the processing of personal data, you can contact us through:
- Email: info@upcyon.com
- Phone: 623 582 862
Note: if your company has a registered company name, tax ID and registered office, we recommend including them here for greater legal precision.
2. What the Upcyon app is
The Upcyon app is a free tool that allows professionals and end users to connect, via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), to the LiFePO4 batteries manufactured by Upcyon to check their status (charge level, voltage, current, temperature, cycles, etc.), configure them and receive alerts about their operation.
The app works locally: communication takes place directly between your mobile device and the battery via Bluetooth, without the need to create an account or register.
3. Data we collect
3.1 Through the website
When you fill in the contact form on our website, we collect the data you voluntarily provide: company name, tax ID, contact name, role, email, phone, sector of activity, model of interest and the message sent. This data is used exclusively to respond to your commercial enquiry and is not transferred to third parties.
3.2 Through the Upcyon mobile app
The Upcyon app does not require registration or a user account and, by default, does not collect or send personal data to our servers. Information about your devices and batteries is stored only on your own phone or tablet, in the app's private memory, and does not leave your device unless you voluntarily activate the "Remote Support" feature described in point 4.
The data stored locally on your device includes:
- Saved devices: the name you assign to each battery, its Bluetooth address/identifier (MAC), detected capacity and calibration settings.
- Parallel battery configurations: the name of the set and the Bluetooth addresses of the associated batteries.
- "Workshop Mode" history: periodic records of the battery's status (charge, voltage, current, temperature) captured during a diagnostic session, stored on your device.
This information is never transmitted to Upcyon or to third parties. You can delete it at any time by removing the saved devices from the app itself or by uninstalling the app.
4. Permissions requested by the app and what they are used for
To work correctly, the Upcyon app requests the following operating system permissions. None of them is used to identify you, profile you or show you advertising:
- Bluetooth (scan and connect): essential to detect and communicate with your LiFePO4 battery. Without this permission, the app cannot work.
- Location (only on Android 11 or earlier): the Android operating system requires this permission as a technical requirement to scan Bluetooth devices on older versions of Android. Upcyon does not access or store your geographical location at any time, nor does it use it for any other purpose. On Android 12 and above this permission is no longer necessary and is not requested.
- Camera: used only to scan the QR code printed on the battery, in order to identify and link the correct device quickly. The app does not take photos, record video or store any images.
- Notifications: used to alert you to relevant events of your battery (for example, low charge level or operating alerts) while the app is in the background.
- Foreground service: necessary to keep the Bluetooth connection active while the app records the "Workshop Mode" history or shows the battery status on the home screen (widget), even with the screen off or the app in the background.
- Internet: used only when you voluntarily activate the "Remote Support" feature (see point 5) and for technical checks of the app itself. The app does not send data over the internet on a regular basis.
5. "Remote Support" feature (optional)
The app includes an optional Remote Support feature, designed so that a technician can help you remotely with the diagnosis of your battery. This feature is disabled by default and only activates if you decide to do so manually.
When you activate Remote Support, the app generates a temporary 6-digit session code and, while the session is active, sends the following data in real time to a cloud server (Firebase Realtime Database, provided by Google):
- State of charge (SOC), voltage, current and power of the battery.
- Temperatures and voltages of the individual cells.
- Estimated runtime.
- The name you have assigned to the device.
- Connection status.
This data does not include personally identifiable information (your name, email, phone, location or any account identifier is not sent, because the app does not have user accounts). The session code and associated data are automatically deleted when the support session ends. This information is only accessible to whoever has the temporary session code.
6. Purpose of processing
We process the data described for the following purposes:
- To enable the basic operation of the app (connection and monitoring of your battery).
- To save your devices and configurations so that you do not have to link them again each time.
- To show you relevant alerts and notifications about your battery's status.
- To provide remote technical support when you expressly request it.
- To respond to commercial enquiries received through the website contact form.
7. Legal basis
Data processing is based on:
- Performance of a service requested by the user: the operation of the app and the local storage of your devices.
- Explicit consent: for the voluntary activation of the Remote Support feature and for sending the contact form.
- Legitimate interest: to respond to commercial enquiries and improve our products and services.
8. Data retention
- The data stored locally on your device (saved devices, Workshop Mode history) is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Remote Support session data is automatically deleted when the session ends, and in any case within a maximum of 24 hours.
- Contact form data is kept for as long as necessary to manage your request and, subsequently, for the period legally required to address possible liabilities.
9. Recipients and data processors
Upcyon does not sell or transfer your data to third parties for commercial or advertising purposes. For the Remote Support feature we use Google Firebase (Firebase Realtime Database) as a data processor, hosted on servers in the European Union. Google processes this data solely following our instructions and in accordance with its own privacy policy.
The Upcyon app does not integrate third-party advertising or analytics tools (it does not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or advertising SDKs).
10. Your rights
In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Spanish regulations, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data.
- Rectify inaccurate data.
- Erase your data when it is no longer necessary.
- Object to processing or request its restriction.
- Request the portability of your data.
As most of the information is stored locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly by deleting the data from the app itself or uninstalling it. For any other request, you can write to us at info@upcyon.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).
11. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data processed, including the use of encrypted connections for communication with cloud services and local storage protected by your device's own operating system.
12. Minors
The Upcyon app is aimed at professionals and end users of energy products and is not specifically aimed at minors. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy to reflect legal, technical or service changes. We will publish any changes on this same page, indicating the date of the last update.
14. Terms of Use of the Upcyon app
Use of the Upcyon mobile app implies acceptance of the following terms of use:

The information displayed by the app (charge level, voltage, temperature, estimated runtime, alerts, etc.) is indicative and is based on the data provided by the product's battery management system (BMS). Upcyon is not responsible for damage resulting from improper use of the battery or from decisions made solely on the basis of the information displayed by the app, without checking it against the product manual or with qualified technical staff.
14.5 Intellectual property
The app, its code, design, brand and contents are the property of Upcyon or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property regulations. Copying, modifying, distributing or reverse-engineering the app without express authorisation is not permitted.
