Motorhome next to a cove in the Valencian Community

The Valencian Community is a motorhoming classic, and with good reason: mild weather almost all year, miles of coastline with motorhome areas, crystal-clear coves and an inland mountain range many don't even know about. It's a comfortable, rewarding destination, ideal outside summer too. Here are some ideas for touring it from north to south.

Castellón: coves and the Maestrazgo

The north is a surprise: the coves around Oropesa, Peñíscola with its castle over the sea, and inland, the Maestrazgo, with mountain villages like Morella, one of Spain's prettiest medieval towns. The Moncofa area has beaches with a nearby motorhome area.

Valencia and its surroundings

The city of Valencia deserves a stop (park outside and go in by public transport or bike), and nearby you'll find the Albufera, the rice fields and postcard sunsets. The province's beaches are wide and well equipped.

Alicante: coves and mountains

The south is pure Mediterranean: the coves of the Marina Alta (Xàbia, Dénia, Moraira), family beaches and, inland, valleys like the Vall de Guadalest and mountains like Montgó or the Sierra de Aitana. Coast and mountains contrast within a small area.

When to go

Its great asset is the climate: spring, autumn and even winter are wonderful, with sunny days while the rest of Spain shivers. In summer, it's best to set off early to find a spot at the most popular coves.

Practical tips

  • Look for motorhome areas near the beaches; parking right on the seafront is usually banned.
  • Explore the interior: the Maestrazgo and the mountains of Alicante are little-crowded gems.
  • Make the most of winter to escape the cold without leaving the peninsula.

In summary

The Valencian Community combines mild coastline all year round with an inland mountain range yet to be discovered, ideal in low season too. The step to take today: if you're travelling in winter looking for sun, this coast is one of the best bets; find a couple of areas near the coves you want to visit. And to choose a beach, check out the best beaches.

Before the coast, secure your autonomy

A few days hopping between coves are more enjoyable without worrying about the battery. Calculate your autonomy before you go.
